“On Human Nature”: a talk on Biodiversity, by Spyros Sfendourakis, Professor of Ecology and Biodiversity (University of Cyprus).

After a series of 5 on-line lectures on Biodiversity by Stegi VITSENTZOS KORNAROS, another relevant talk will take place, this time at the Stegi VITSENTZOS KORNAROS premises (97, V. Kornarou St., Sitia) on Friday 19 July 2024, at 8pm.

Are we born good or evil? Are violence and war inherent in our nature? – or perhaps cooperation and peaceful co-existing, instead? Is it true that the Agricultural Revolution is responsible for the greatest part of our suffering, due to the major changes it brought about? Is there such a thing as a human nature after all, or are our attributes determined by the social environment in which we are reared? And what do Evolutionary Biologists have to say on that matter? In this talk we shall address questions such as these, and also attempt to better understand our own kind and figure out our future.
