Starting in 2026, the Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros launches a new annual multidisciplinary festival, each year focusing on a different theme and highlighting contemporary artistic and intellectual trends.

The first edition is dedicated to contemporary Greek literature and is titled Sitia Literary Festival. The festival will take place in Sitia from June 12 to 14, 2026, aiming to become a vibrant meeting point for writers, creators, and the public.

The core of the festival consists of discussions held on June 13 and 14 at the Sitia Municipal Cultural Center. Twenty contemporary Greek authors will participate in four roundtable discussions, each featuring four speakers and a moderator—also a writer—in conversation before a live audience. Each roundtable explores a different theme, as outlined in the detailed festival program, shedding light on various aspects of contemporary literary production and thought.

At the same time, the festival is enriched by a broader artistic program that connects literature with other forms of art:

• A theatre performance on Friday, June 12
• A painting exhibition on Saturday, June 13
• A concert on Sunday, June 14

In this way, the festival seeks to create a multidimensional experience where word, image, and sound coexist and interact.

The program has been curated and designed by Loukia Dervi and Alexis Panselinos, forming a cohesive and dynamic framework that highlights contemporary Greek creativity.
