Wishing to study and promote the work of the poet of Erotokritos, Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros plans on organizing the “Vitsentzos Kornaros Pancretan Student Contest” on an annual basis, in the genres of Poetry and Short Story.

The emblematic work of the Cretan Renaissance Erotokritos, by Vitsentzos Kornaros, is an indispensable part of the European poetic tradition, which continues to be an inspiration to this day. Friendship, trust, fraternal loyalty, love, persistence to the ideal of self-governance, the concept of honour and personal dignity, and falling in love are some of the subjects that are harmonically interwoven in Erotokritos, shaping up the spirit and the characteristics of man during the Renaissance. These focal points will serve as a reservoir of themes, for the subject of the contest to be chosen from, each year.
