Within the framework of the co-operation between Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros and the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics of the Hellenic Mediterranean University, a second group of visiting ERASMUS students were shown around the SVK premises on Wednesday 15 November 2022. During the visit, they had the opportunity to learn about the life and work of Vitsentzos Kornaros.
This time, the University College of Leuven Limburg students were guided by two peers from the HMU Nutrition & Dietetics Department, Charalambos Apostolakis and Fotis Makris, supervised by the HMU Terminology Tutor and member of “Stegi”, Angeliki Christaki.
Having been informed about the activities of SVK and Vitsentzos Kornaros work, the students visited the Yorgos Kordis painting exhibition which is housed in SVK, featuring works inspired by the world-known poem Erotokritos. The visitors showed a great interest in it, as well as in the characteristic melody on which the poem is usually sung, choosing it as the music score for their two Universities collaboration video. The visiting students were accompanied by Assistant Professor Maria Maraki, Special Technical Laboratory Staff member and PhD Candidate at HMU Dpt. Of Social Workers Ioannis Sfendourakis and HMU students.
During the course of the programme titled: “International Course in Clinical Nutrition”, students from both Universities participated in lectures, workshops, visits, etc. The visit at Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros premises, which was documented in a brief video by Dimitris Pathiakis (Mitato films) was one of those activities.
At the end of the visit commemorative gifts were given and a promise was made for a follow-up visit to Sitia.
The collaboration between Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros and the Hellenic Mediterranean University will continue with other events, which will soon be announced.
