Stegi VITSENTZOS KORNAROS invites you to the presentation of Manolis Miaoudakis’ latest book, Logadera, on Wednesday 31 January at 18:30, at the Polykentron of Sitia (16, Kondylaki Str.).
The Philologists Yiorgos Drakonakis and Yiannis Bourbourakis will discuss Logadera, while the local amateur actresses Maria Achladianaki and Stella Foteinaki will read excerpts from the book. The event will be coordinated by Katerina Goulielmou.
In his book Logadera, the writer recalls and narrates experiences from his childhood and youth, which he has composed using a cheerful, realistic as well as contemplative tone. People and events, incidents of days of the past, luminous moments, vividly engraved in the life stories of the previous century Sitians.
Manolis Miaoudakis was born in the village of Skordylo, and worked as a Civil Engineer in Sitia. He has served as president and vice-president of the Cultural Centre of Sitia, as well as a deputy mayor, being involved in cultural matters. Since 1992 he has been writing and staging “Stiaka dromena” (= Sitian happenings), a series of revues, 12 so far, written mainly in rhyme, which satirise the everyday life of the local community, past and current. His short stories, articles and poems have been published in magazines, anthologies and newspapers, while several of them have been awarded in Cretan literature contests. He has also worked on radio and television projects, mainly in shows of folklore content. His playwright work includes a comedy folklore play. He has published four books.
