The presentation of the New Year Calendar by Stegi VITSENTZOS KORNAROS will be held at the Sitia Polykentro (16, Kondylaki St), on Saturday 11 January 2025, at 19:00. It is dedicated to Mikis Theodorakis, the “last Greek of the Renaissance”.
Mikis Theodorakis was a remarkable person, who managed to merge culture and politics in a unique way. 2025 marks a hundred years since his birth, and has been dedicated to him by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. Stegi VITSENTZOS KORNAROS participates in the celebrations with this calendar, wishing to highlight what the illustrious composer had in common with Vitsentzos Kornaros, the poet of the Cretan Renaissance: they were both scholarly as well as close to the common folk, and their work became an inspiration and a delight for generations of people.
Given that the Stegi VITSENTZOS KORNAROS 2025 Calendar is a tribute to Mikis Theodorakis, its presentation couldn’t possibly be done without music. The songs mentioned on its pages will be performed by: Yorgos Papadoyannis (bouzouki, voice), Efi Saranti (guitar, voice), Yanna Neroulidi (accordion), Frans De Leuw (clarinet), Michalis Avgoustinakis (voice), Rania Frangouli (voice).
After the music, a banquet will follow and the calendar will be handed out to the attendees.
