Erotokritos, a music and theatre performance, from Sitia to Bologna. Directed by Nassos Zagotis. Organised by Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros and the Hellenic Consulate in Bologna. Co-organised by the Friends of Music Association of Sitia and the Municipality of Sitia.

Erotokritos is setting off on a new adventure. An idea that came about in summer 2022, when Ms Georgia Lambraki, Consul of Greece in Bologna, proposed to Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros to take on the organization of a new staged version of Erotokritos, adapted fittingly to be presented in Bologna, along with William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Two plays, two love stories, written at about the same period of time – the former ending happily, the latter tragically.

Nassos Zagotis, stage director of the first two versions of the same play, presented in Sitia in 2018 and 2019, as well as of the current version, got right to work, while the Municipality of Sitia and the Friends of Music Association of Sitia signed up as co-organisers. Thus, Erotokritos, backed up by the sponsors Toplou Monastery, Kouvarakis Dairy Sitia and Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, will be presented at the Celebrazioni theatre in Bologna on February 7 2023 (at 20:30), along with the dance performance Romeo and Juliet (a ballet for two, by the Italian choreographer Arturo Cannistra). Before that, it will inaugurate the recently renovated venue of Polykentro in Sitia, with three back-to-back performances, on February 1^st, 2^nd and 3rd, at 19:30 and 21:30.
