The lecture will take place on the ground floor of the Stegi Vitsentzos Kornaros’ premises (97, V. Kornarou St, Sitia) and Professor Kaklamanis (Faculty of Philology, Department of Modern Greek Philology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) will focus on the lyrical poetry which was written in Crete in the late 16th century.
More specifically, an unknown until recently collection of eight poems will be presented, which were written in Italian by illustrious members of the Stravaganti Academy of Chandax (Kornaros included), on the subject of the death of a… partridge, owned by their friend Angelos Lolinos (approx. 1550-1596).
Matters that concern the historical, the grammatological, the intertextual and the ideological identity of the particular collection of poems will be examined, as well as the part that the Accademia degli Stravaganti played in the cultivation of lyrical poetry in Crete.
